Summary of the Book
When Darrell and the others arrive in Fifth Form, they find that two girls have been left behind while their classmates moved up to Sixth Form. Catherine and Moira are very unpopular, so when Moira is made head girl, it is of little surprise when she clashes with Alicia and the others because of her personality. The Fifth Formers have little time to spend on their scuffles though, they need to write and produce their own production by the end of the term. They decide to perform a Pantomime of Cinderella, and the committee in charge consists mostly of North Tower girls. There are other problems as well. Maureen’s a new girl in the school, she joined Malory Towers after the head of her previous school died. She is vain and shallow, and she is soon paired with Gwendoline who is much like her. They try to win the lead role in the production, but there can be only one Cinderella. Who’s going to win the role?
